LIKE Mervyn King, Vincent has enjoyed a successful first year within the PDC ranks to move into the top 32 and earn an automatic place in the Ladbrokes.cmo PDC World Championship.
The Dutchman made an immediate impact by reaching the semi-final at the UK Open Southern Regional Final, before going on to be the runner-up in the televised finals in Bolton against Raymond van Barneveld.
His displays in the Players Championship tournaments, including a semi-final at the Peachtree Open in Atlanta, earned van der Voort a place in the World Grand Prix in October, where he again went down to van Barneveld.
However, van der Voort - one of the fastest throwers in the sport and a former Lakeside Championship quarter-finalist - bounced back to reach the final of the John McEvoy Gold Dart Classic in Killarney last month.
