BARRIE has enjoyed a month's break since the Grand Slam of Darts in his bid to overcome the leg problems which have hampered him since June.
The Welshman has had problems with a broken bone in his foot, diagnosed following a second round loss to Raymond van Barneveld in the World Matchplay, only to over-compensate and place too much strain on his knee.
Bates followed up a strong 2006 campaign, when he won three ranked events and reached the UK Open final, by continuing his rise into the world's top 16 this year.
He was a narrow 3-2 first round loser to Canada's Brian Cyr on his World Championship debut 12 months ago.
